Editorial Policy
Last updated: January 1, 2026
GreenLeaf Journal is committed to publishing accurate, helpful, and independent gardening journalism. This policy sets out how we research, write, edit, and update our content.
Editorial independence
Our editorial team operates independently of our commercial operations. Advertisers, affiliate partners, and product manufacturers have no influence over what we cover or how we cover it. We do not accept payment in exchange for editorial coverage, ever.
Who writes our content
All articles are written or commissioned by horticulturists, master gardeners, or specialist garden writers with verifiable credentials and hands-on growing experience. Every article displays a clearly identified author with a linked biography.
Research standards
Our writers reference university extension publications, the Royal Horticultural Society, peer-reviewed journals, and other authoritative sources. Where claims are made about plant behaviour, soil chemistry, or pest control, we cite the primary source rather than relying on aggregated content.
Editing and fact-checking
Every article is reviewed by a senior editor before publication. Factual claims, plant names, hardiness zones, and product recommendations are checked against authoritative sources. See our Fact-Checking Policy for details.
Updates and corrections
We review evergreen articles at least annually and update them as new research emerges or growing conditions change. When we publish a correction, we note it transparently at the bottom of the affected article and update the "Last reviewed" date.
Sponsored content
We do not currently publish sponsored articles. If this changes, all sponsored content will be clearly labelled as such and will be visually distinct from editorial content.
Affiliate links
Some product links earn us a small commission at no cost to you. Products are chosen on merit by our editors; commercial relationships have no influence on inclusion.
Reader feedback
We welcome corrections, questions, and feedback from our readers. Email our editorial team via the contact page.
